Who we are and what we do

Our Mission

Highway networks are a foundation of our society. We rely on access to them 24 hours a day 365 of the year.

The Public Access Protection Society is a non-profit society that exists to protect the public's right to travel on all public streets, roads, trails, and other highways in a safe and timely manner.

We advocate for your access to all public roads and trails in British Columbia, with proper maintenance.
Current Initiatives
Restoring Original Highway Maintenance Program in BC
To improve highway maintenance for enhanced safety and productivity, the Public Access Protection Society calls on the province to resume public road maintenance in a minimum of two of the 28 service areas, either by the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, or through a crown corporation. This will keep knowledge and experience within the public service, put downward pressure on costs, and ensure quality service levels are provided.
